Growing your business leads means you have to go out, meet people, build business relationships, vend- "stay visible", grow your online presence, and social media platform.  There are several ways that these things can be done without headache.


Go Out And Meet People

Meeting people can grow your business leads.  It can also be interesting and fun.  Find out what business events are going on in your neighborhood, city, or state.  Plan to attend, with your best elevator pitch, and share what you do with attendees.  Now be mindful that not everyone will have a need for your product or service but they may have a friend or family member that does. So building business relationships, via follow-up after the event is essential for maintaining those "NEW" business contacts.


Build Business Relationships

There are several ways that you can build business relationships with contacts, and potential clients that can grow your business leads.  Email, phone, or mail.  Utilize one of these options or all three.  Follow-up and regular communication will keep you, your products and services in the minds of your business contacts.  When an opportunity approaches their desk to refer someone for a product or service that you offer, make sure you stay in their mind, and your contact information is easily accessible.

Vending "Stay Visible"

Vending at local, city, and statewide events can grow your business leads.  Showcase and expose your products and services at various events.  Make sure your signage, promotional materials, and branding message is on point.  Have a business card drop and/ or a contact sheet that people can leave their contact information.  After the event follow-up with your "NEW" leads.  Are they hot, or cold as it pertains to your product?  Whatever their temperature, continue to follow-up via email, phone, or mail.

Grow Your Presence Online

Growing your presence online can grow your business leads.  What does your online presence say about you?  Is your website on point?  Are people finding it?  Your website can be a strong powerful tool to grow your leads if it is set-up right. Keyword tools help people find you from around the world.  Email capture boxes, landing pages, and blogging are also great resources. 


Grow Your Social Media Presence

With millions of people utilizing social media daily it is a great tool for you to use to grow your business leads.  Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and others are all great sources for business leads. Create groups or pages using your business name or target market name.  Post on the page daily.  Engage your audience, and keep them coming back for more.

I have to admit I am a Shank Tank addict.  Shark Tank comes on television weekly.  Each week I find myself running home to watch this powerful television show that test entrepreneurs, business owners, and CEO’s as to how well they know their business.  This leaves me to ask… How well do you know your business?

Are you ready for the real world Shark Tank? 

The Shark Tank series features a panel of entrepreneurs and business executives called "Sharks" who consider offers from other entrepreneurs seeking investments for their business or product.
  Sharks are particularly interested in how well you know your business, target market, your business schematics, and most importantly your business numbers. In the real world it is essential that we know these things for business clarity and success. If asked questions do you have the answers to what makes your business operate and run daily

Some questions the Shark Tank team asks to the business owner/ entrepreneurs are:

  • What are your sales for last year?
  • What are your projected sales for this year?
  • What is your annual income/evaluation for this year and next year?
  • What is the lifetime value of your customer?
  • What does your business do, and why should the Shark Tank investors invest in you?

Now if you have good answers to these questions, a good elevator pitch, and presentation it’s quite possible that you will walk out of the room with a Shark investing a nice nest egg in your business.  On the other hand if your answers to these questions don't make sense, your elevator pitch fails to convince, your presentation stinks, or fails to meet the mark (to the Sharks) you will walk out empty handed and almost in tears.

How strong is your elevator pitch?  Is your elevator pitch strong enough to grab someones attention, and engage them to want to learn more about your business?  Is your elevator pitch packed with a whole lot of nothing that bores the average listener with the all about you jargon?  Or does your elevator pitch get the job done every time?

My first few months in business I attended many networking events I talked and talked, working the room until I was literally exhausted.  Even after all the talking, listening, and business card exchange I did not get the initial results I was looking for.  Why?  Was it my approach, was it my departure, or was it my elevator pitch?  I came to realize that a strong elevator pitch is essential in determining the interest of your potential client. 

The first 30 seconds of your conversation with people will determine if they have an interest, want to learn more, or have no interest at all.  Those 30 seconds have to have a powerful array of who you are, what you do, how you can be of benefit and/or add value to the person you are pitching too.  If key points are missed that can make or break the person's interest.  If too much is said that can have your potential client thinking about "their to do list" while you are talking to them.

So how strong is your elevator pitch?  Is it clear, and concise?  Is it long and drawn out?  Have you tested it to see if it is effective?  All these things need  to be clarified so that you get the interest of your potential client, and the results that you seek.
